Major Russian Assaults Disrupt Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced interruptions to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Russian forces has intensified strikes on electrical systems over the past few days, while officials has demanded "real steps" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in delivering air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles targeted energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the city endured intense attacks overnight. A minor was killed and several individuals were injured.

The attacks follow evenings of air raids in the region, sections of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the country's energy grid, with attacks already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were bracing for additional strikes.
